About Dr. Ruckel

Dr. Lindsay Ruckel holds a bachelor's degree in Psychology from SUNY Oswego, a master's degree in Experimental Psychology from SUNY New Paltz, and a Ph.D. in Experimental Psychology with a specialization in Social Psychology from New Mexico State University. 

Dr. Ruckel's research focuses, broadly speaking, on interpersonal dynamics and social perception.  Her research often adopts a person x situation interactionist perspective, and ultimately speaks to intersecting literatures on interpersonal attraction and relationships, gender and sexuality, social perception, individual differences, and the psychology of social media. 


Some of Dr. Ruckel's current research interests include: 

(1) Individuals' perceptions of others’ sexual interest in them

(2) People's judgments of initiators of romantic and/or sexual encounters

(3) Attraction, rejection, dating, and relationships

(4) Social perception of medical cannabis use/users

(5) Genetic essentialism biases and perceptions of cheating in romantic relationships 

(6) The psychology of social media
